Data Studio and Analytics

I recently stumbled upon the Google Marketing Platform which had tools like Data Studio and Google Analytics. Those applications were particularly useful for me this year ever since I started blogging here. I decided that I could learn to use these platform so that someday I may be able to use these skills for other purposes.

On Data Studio, I was able to present the data from my blog in a geomap and a treemap beside other more commonly used data visualisations. I could present the proportions of the page views for the month in a way that is more visually appealing. Thus, this tool allows one to tell a story using Data.

On the other hand, Google Analytics seem more useful with the 'Insights' function which offers Analytics Intelligence at the click of a button. For example, clicking a panel which said " What percentage of my users came from organic search in the last 30 days?" brought me the following results.

Percent of Users for Medium of Organic Search

Oct 8–Nov 6, 2019

34.58%

This tool also allowed real-time tracking and observation of active users which is quite creepy but can be especially useful if one is using the site for a live event and the data is required.

The above screenshot shows some of the auto-generated data reports on the dashboard. It is quite interesting to me that I have some readers from US, UK and South Asia too. Maybe I could get opportunities to partner or collaborate with these people someday especially with my Google Innovator network. I think that companies or businesses could really benefit from knowing some of these information as well if it was obtainable from their sites. For now, I shall continue to explore what other tools Google Marketing Platform has to offer to an EdTech blogger like me.

Sneak peek to FB Insights and Analytics too
