Vanilla in Tech

Not about the basic ice-cream flavour

For those of you who are wondering why 'VANILLA'?

"Vanilla
adjective
UK  /vəˈnɪl.ə/ US  /vəˈnɪl.ə/

used to describe a product or service that is basic and has no special features"

Although I have dabbled a bit in coding and programming for EdTech (designing games, visual novels and apps), I have never really understood the terms front-end, back-end and full stack web developers. The differences are laid out here. I recently started and completed a course on 'Vanilla' HTML, CSS and JavaScript programming which are the three main languages for a front-end developer.

The course was good as I could tinker with the final product even before beginning on the codes from the website. There was a breakout game, countdown timer, relaxer app and guess the number as well as a hangman game which I have customised for my work in ALP ICT & Media.

Vanilla just not like this

Those who want to know more about 'Vanilla' read this. One could think of Vanilla as more 'default' than 'ordinary'. Talking about this makes me think of Vanilla flavoured ice-cream. That is still better than the other ways the word can be used informally.
