Price vs Value

Warren Buffett is quoted AGAIN...

Continuation of the Asia-ready Exposure Programme...

After learning about the long-term perspective (last week), Ms Kuik shared about value in contrast to price. "If you want to do things right, do not focus first on the price, instead focus on the value first."

The sharing went from the price and value of 2 bowls of prawn noodle to the value of a decision and the price we pay for it in the workplace. There was also the 9 boxes shown below linked to Philip Kotler's (the Marketing Guru)Price and Quality Matrix.

Cost vs Value Matrix to help with prioritisation

So, when in a job hunt, one should consider the value one brings to the team instead of thinking for the highest asking price. This also makes me think about the EdTech value one can bring to the classroom. Ideally, one should know the various affordances of different tools so as to be able to utilise its true value rather than being overly concerned of the pricing. Perhaps, my investment for the one-off payment of $200+ for Camtasia (a video editing software) to create interactive videos is worth it. It allows me to explore the space and engage my students better rather than letting them be passive video watchers. Check out the video on Diversity as embedded below.

Check out the hinge-point questions and the in-video buttons in the video and choose-your-own ending!

Ended with a chat with a GIC hotshot

As someone who has worked in various parts of Asia, Adrian also mentioned MOE and said that someone should be looking into the undervalued aspects of EQ, social awareness, personal awareness in Singaporeans. "Being likeable is one the most underrated skills that a person can have." These are things which are rare and given the right circumstances and paying attention to these things matter.
