Google for Education Champions Symposium

Folks from #SEA19

Got selected for the Google for Education Champions Symposium although I have been away a bit from the main education system with my current secondment in Tasek Jurong. It is really special as about 100 Trainers, Innovators, and Coaches are brought together to share, network and learn. Only a handful are from Singapore and the rest come from Malaysia, Indonesia, India, Japan, Korea, Nepal,  Australia, America, and many other places near and far.

What's also great is that we were provided with Acer Chromebooks (Spin 714) to use and it could be folded to a table form and it came with a stylus too. Used it quite a bit on Slides and Jamboard as we had sharing sessions on the future of education and we thought about our purpose.

Jamboard

Day 1 Notes by Steven

Being in Everest Room, we had an interesting choose-your-own-adventure session to climb Mount Everest (a complex not just complicated task) figuratively. We were made to understand the importance of a common purpose and aligned values to be able to thrive in complex situations and settings. My team decided to have safety first as a value and teamwork meaning some representation will do instead of all having to win together. As for the decision-making process, we decided to be consultative primarily and secondarily, through consensus (rather than time-consuming unanimous agreement). In the end, through the choices my team made, we were able to get 4 people to the summit (Window 1, and had 3 in team to volunteer to head back before summitting with extra oxygen tank).

The above are some of the photos and ideas captured from the symposium at Google Asia Pacific HQ. Do reach out if you have further questions. Have included some links to relevant documents below too.
