Course Overview
Course Synopsis:
There is now much that we know about how Assessment for Learning (AfL) can support students in schools. However, there remains structural problems such as class size that can inhibit its effectiveness. This course explores how simple technology tools can facilitate AfL through annotated videos of how teachers in local schools are currently using them in class.
Course Objectives:
At the end of the course / each session, participants will be able to
- identify key Assessment for Learning (AfL) principles and processes;
- identify appropriate digital tools to serve AfL;
- plan a lesson using technology to support AfL in class.
Course Outline:
Session 1 - Characteristics of lessons that feature AfL processes and possible frameworks to choose tech tools for AfL
Session 2 - Focus on locating and interpreting learning gaps
Session 3 - Focus on closing learning gaps
Session 4 - Focus on student involvement
Session 5 - Possibilities in digital tools and tech platforms
