Lumen5 video-making tool

A friend shared this pretty cool tool that makes a video based off a link or as simple as copy and pasting the text from a site. Lumen5 is a video creation platform powered by A.I. that enables anyone without training or experience to easily create engaging video content within minutes. The videos it generates use stock images or videos based on the content or context from the text.

When I tried it, the URL version did not work so well with the link to one of the earlier posts from this blog. Rather, when I copied the text and pasted it as 'script' this is what I got and after a few more clicks I got the video featured at the bottom of this post.

It is apparent that this site is useful for social media marketing but I can see how it can be used in the classroom too. Students might be amazed by the affordances of AI technology and they can then see their texts come to 'life'. I would probably use it for my future EL lessons and see the kind of media files that are generated from their narratives or even expositions.
